City level winners of English,Hindi and Urdu felicitated in Indore on 12.12.2017 along with the Chief Guest.

2015-16

In the 2015-16 edition of this competition in the Hindi language has touched 737927 students across 46 cities and 1600 schools. The City level winners have been felicitated at City level functions organized at Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Indore.

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, and senior leaders from the Tata group, with the national winners of the 2015-16 edition of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on January 12, 2018.

The national winners of the 2015-16 edition of Tata Building India School Essay Competition got a chance to meet the Honorable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and got a once in lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 12, 2018.

The young achievers were further felicitated by Mr. Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons Ltd at a function held on the same day in New Delhi.

The theme for 2014-15 competition was "Clean India". The City level winners were felicitated at City level functions organized at Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh along with English language. National winners have been identified and will be informed on Individual basis.

The National level winners were felicitated in New Delhi on 8 th Dec 2016.

The 4th edition of this competition in the Hindi language was launched in September, 2010. Nearly 5 lakh students participated across 27 cities and 1000 schools.

The theme for 2010-11 was "Garibi Hatao". The city level winners were felicitated in October-December 2011. . The national level winners for 2010-11 got an opportunity to meet the President on 2nd April 2013 and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

2009-10

The 3rd edition covered 18 cities where nearly 4 lakh students across 600 Hindi medium schools participated. The theme of the competition was 'Future India'. Three regional felicitation events were conducted to felicitate the city winners. The national level winners have been announced and will be felicitated by Dr. E Sreedharan at Delhi.

2008-09

In its second year the essay competition for the year 2008-09 was extended to 12 cities compared to 8 in the first year. More than 2.5 lakh students participated from around 400 Hindi medium schools across the Hindi belt of India in cities like Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, Raipur, Jammu, Ludhiana, Ranchi, Udaipur, Kanpur, Varanasi, Haridwar and Hissar. Four Regional awards ceremony (Bhopal, Patna, Kanpur, Ludhiana) were organized to jointly felicitate the city level winners from the cities.

National winners of 2008-09 from English and Hindi were jointly felicitated at a gala function in May 2010 in New Delhi.

The high-point of the achievement of these winners was the once in a lifetime opportunity that they got to interact with the Vice President of India, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari along with a guided tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

2007-08

Buoyed by the encouraging words of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the tremendous response received from the schools in the first year, the Tata group of companies extended the competition in 2007-08 to Hindi medium schools across North and Central India. The first edition received entries from over 1.35 lakh students from 243 schools across 8 cities (Agra, Amritsar, Delhi, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Lucknow and Patna). The city level winners were felicitated in an award ceremony in all these 8 locations which was covered well by local media also. The national winners of the Hindi essay competition along with their counter-parts from the English essay competition for 2007-08 were felicitated by the Honorable President Mrs. Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The children along with the parents spent some time with the President and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

Introduction:

The Tata Building India School Essay Competition is one of the key initiatives undertaken by the Tata group of companies to motivate the youth of India towards thinking about nation building. The essay competition provides a unique platform to encourage young leaders of tomorrow to showcase their expressions in writing, on a host of subjects related to nation building.

The online edition is open to all school students class 6 th to 12 th and the current edition 2017-18 started from 1st August 2017 the last date of submission is 31st July 2018, 24:00 Hrs.( Online version permits to participate Only once in a academic year/Term on the randomly selected topics which appear on the screen once the student has registered Himself/ Herself . However in case multiple entries being made by a student the latest entry by the participant will only be considered for evaluation. All essays submitted online will be categorized in two levels Junior 6 to 8 th std. & Senior 9th to 12 th std. and will be evaluated by Judges on the parameters of Relevance to topic, Language, Structure, Creativity, Communication of idea, and the winners will be announced on the Website of Tata Building India . All winners will receive a citation. This is an attempt to reach out to School students were Tata Building India school Essay competition is not held at school level. Entry will be considered valid only if the essay is written on the given topic
